Campaigning for adult education in challenging times - 13th October
13th October 2010, 12.30 - 3.15pm
Leicester
£85
Following the general election and the Spending Review, public spending on adult education is almost certain to decline over the next five years. This session seeks to build the capacity of those involved in campaigns to protect formal and informal adult education, recognising that adult education is not simply a public service but also an instrument of cultural change.
The policy briefing session aims to:
- improve participants’ ability to frame campaign objectives
- understand campaign strategy
- communicate with policy influencers
- understand success by looking at case studies
- sharing campaign ‘tradecraft’.
These skills, techniques and understandings are transferable to a range of contexts in which adult educators wish to encourage active citizenship through participatory learning.
